Leadership Views: A Message from Chair Steve Rhode
Dear TSC Institute Students, Alumni, and Board, and the entire logistics community,
2021 has been a particularly challenging year for all of us in the global supply chain community. Our ability to flex and pivot to the seemingly endless impacts were at times almost insurmountable. However, the strength of the total logistics platform worldwide is better for this period in history. Professionals have learned new and diverse ways to apply technology, gain efficiencies, and seek collaboration internally, with clients and across their network of logistics partners.
We experienced significant change in the industry and those changes were reflected at the Institute also. Most notably, the Institute has reinvigorated its mission with a name change that reflects a deep commitment to the industry. Supply chain, already a key component of the curriculum, was officially added to the name thus changing us from The Transportation Institute, also known as DTI, to The Transportation & Supply Chain Institute, which we also call The TSC Institute. Activity related to the development of curricula and academic programs was also very robust. The Board is very pleased that a new bachelor’s program in transportation and supply chain is being added to the degrees and certificates offered. This is an impactful change. The undergraduate degree, will be an excellent opportunity for those building their careers in logistics for an industry that dearly needs those professionals more than ever.
As the year closes, I want to recognize the transportation and supply chain leaders who belong to the community that is the TSC Institute. The Board of Directors, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and affiliates all share a commitment to helping create the next generation of leaders in this community.
