Reflections on Residency Week 2025
What Happens When Standout Leadership Takes the Floor?
Residency Week is always a highlight for our cohorts, not just because of the curriculum, but because of the special guests who come to campus, generously sharing their time, experience, and candor. This October, Cohort 24 had the opportunity to learn from several extraordinary executives. These seasoned leaders brought a range of perspectives to the table, yet at the heart of every session were principles the cohort could put to work immediately.
Every session was packed with value, but when it comes to making a mark, these three come to mind.
First, Michelle D. Greene, Chief Information Officer at Cardinal Health and board director at Werner Enterprises, brought fantastic energy and a healthy dose of clarity to her session on personal branding. She challenged the group to be intentional about how they show up as leaders and to live their values daily, because success is as much about integrity as it is about achievement.
My favorite takeaway? “‘No’ is a complete sentence”—a reminder that strong leadership also means knowing your boundaries.
Next up, Jack Mahoney, Managing Director, Atlantic for G2 Ocean, as well as TSCI board member and Cohort 15 alumnus, shared a wealth of insight about the leadership strategies he's loyal to. The most memorable moment came when Jack introduced the cohort to the “No Asshole Policy” and the intricacies of bulk shipping.
Rounding out this short list is Rickey Childs, Senior Vice President at The Pasha Group, TSCI board member, and Cohort 6 alumnus. Overseeing terminal operations in key regions, Rickey emphasized adaptability, collaboration, and the value of evolving while anchoring to strong leadership principles. Plus, he’s always a complete joy to be around.
Different leaders. Different vantage points. A shared commitment to helping others rise.
As always, Residency Week proves that when standout leadership takes the floor, learning becomes more than academic. it becomes personal, actionable, and inspiring, no matter which part of the industry the speaker represents or what paths they’ve taken on their own career journey.

Chris Hoffmeister, Chief Commercial Officer and EVP of Brokerage at Hub Group, joined Cohort 24 for a dynamic conversation on leadership, career growth, and the evolving logistics landscape. The session—moderated by Shannon Rigg, Vice President of Operations at Trimac Transportation and member of the cohort—offered students an engaging, firsthand look at what it takes to build a lasting and adaptable career in transportation and supply chain management.
